I completed my training at Miami University (BA Chemistry) and the University of Pittsburgh (Ph.D. Exercise Physiology, MPH Epidemiology, Post-Doc Genetics).

My complete CV can be found here and NIH Biosketch here.

I am interested in studying the causes of inter-individual variations in responses to exercise training for the prevention and treatment of disease with a focus on responses to resistance training in older populations.

We are currently engaged in a clinical trial examining nutritional influences on muscle hypertrophic responses in 50-69 year old men and women. The long term goal is to control environmental variables (i.e. nutrition) and study the effect of common genetic variations on variability in exercise responses.

This is a picture from my experience as a guest coach for the Aggie Football Team.

Kinesiology has an excellent seminar series in which we have the opportunity to discuss our work with scientists from across the country and world.
